
Brittany Ferries signs a letter of intent for the construction of a new ship with Flensburger
FerryToday Brittany Ferries launched a project to build a new ro-pax ferry, by signing a LOI with the FSG yard in Flensburg.
The final contract will be signed in the spring of 2017.
This new vessel will be positioned in 2019 on the Caen-Ouistreham-Portsmouth link, together with MONT-SAINT-MICHEL. On this route Brittany Ferries provides three daily return trips.
Brittany Ferries already had a plan for an LNG vessel but this was put on hold in October 2014.
The characteristics of the new ship:
- Length: 185m
- Width: 31m
- Draft: 6.5m
- GT: 42,000
- Maximum number of passengers: 1,680
- Number of passenger cabins: 257 cabins
- Garage capacity: 2,600 lane metres
- Propulsion: LNG
