Hansa Destinations will not perform the service between Nynäshamn and Rostock during 2023

Hansa Destinations has been running the service between Nynäshamn-Visby-Rostock since August 2021. Now, the company inform that they will not be continuing the traffic during 2023. The background to the decision is the high cost of fuel and challenges to attract sufficient cargo volumes.
Silversea Cruises President and CEO Roberto Martinoli transitions to senior advisor role: Barbara Muckermann named to succeed him
Silversea Cruises President and CEO Roberto Martinoli has elevated the brand into the industry's leading ultra-luxury cruise line. On 1 January 2023, Martinoli will assume the role of senior advisor to Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty. Barbara Muckermann, currently Chief Commercial Officer, will become Silversea's next president and CEO, and will join Royal Caribbean Group's Executive Committee.
Meyer Werft delivers ARVIA to P&O Cruises

Meyer Werft handed over another ship to a customer with the delivery of the ARVIA to the British shipping company P&O Cruises. The sister ship of the IONA, built in 2020, also has low-emission LNG propulsion.

Suardiaz to start end-to-end logistics and ro-ro service between Vigo and Ellesmere Port from June 2023 for Stellantis

Spanish freight ro-ro specialist Suardiaz has entered into a new maritime logistics partnership with automotive group giant Stellantis and the UK’s Peel Ports to start a new twice-weekly ro-ro service from Vigo to Ellesmere Port from June 2023.
CLdN & Seatruck Ferries expand services between Santander, Liverpool and Dublin
CLdN announced further improvements to its services from Santander to Dublin and Dublin to Liverpool. In January 2023 a new twice-weekly schedule from Santander to Dublin will double the capacity on this service, in line with the growing demand.

New Zealand ferry operator StraitNZ Bluebridge (Bluebridge) has reached an agreement with Hogia Ferry Systems for delivery and implementation of their standard reservation software BOOKIT.
Kampu Ferry to resume operation

On 16 December 2022, Kampu Ferry will resume operation on the Shimonoseki (Japan)-Busan (South Korea) route for the first time since March 2020.
On the Japan-South Korea routes, JR Kyushu Jet Ferry and Panstar have already resumed operation.

On Saturday 10 December 2022, Isle of Man Steam Packet's MANXMAN completed initial sea trials to test a number of important systems including: propulsion equipment, controls, mooring, navigation, radio and anchor equipment. Further trials to test speed, stabilisers and sound & vibration levels will be carried out closer to the vessel's completion. Delivery of the vessel from Hyundai Mipo is expected in February 2023.

DFDS' november volumes shows continued mixed picture for freight
DFDS' freight volumes in November 2022 were 12.0% below 2021. Volumes were 3.7% below 2021 adjusted for Channel that is impacted by a considerable total market decrease and overcapacity. The number of passengers continued to recover and increased 119% to 179k equal to 80% of volumes in November 2019, the latest comparable month pre-Covid-19.
Helsinki Shipyard Oy announced the successful acquisition of SH DIANA by Swan Hellenic

Helsinki Shipyard Oy, having received bids for the auction of NB518 announced that Swan Hellenic has been awarded the tender.
Helsinki Shipyard exercised the right to sell the ship by tender, provided for by the shipbuilding contract, after the original Russian buyer failed to take delivery of the ship due to sactions. The auction ended at midnight on 9 December and was satisfactory for Helsinki Shipyard, which analyzed the bids and declared Swan Hellenic the winner.
GoodFuels successfully delivers 100% biofuel to AIDAPRIMA
GoodFuels has successfully delivered 140mt of 100% biofuel to AIDAPRIMA, enhancing its partnership with Carnival Corporation’s AIDA Cruises brand.
The Hyperion-class cruise ship was refuelled with GoodFuels’ sustainable biofuels during its 8 December port call to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
CARNIVAL JUBILEE to be delayed

Carnival Cruise Line notified guests booked on the first six cruises of CARNIVAL JUBILEE that because of delays at the Meyer Werft shipyard, delivery of the ship has been postponed two months and the first cruise will now be on 23 Dec 2023 from Galveston, Tex.
ICON OF THE SEAS floated out at the Meyer Turku shipyard

ICON OF THE SEAS, which is being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard and will become the world’s largest cruise ship, was floated out on 9 December. During the weekend, the ship was then moved to the outfitting dock, where its now fully assembled hull will be finished into a final new cruise ship during next year.
Virgin Voyages’ third cruise ship delivered

The delivery of RESILIENT LADY, the third of four ships which Virgin Voyages ordered to Fincantieri, took place at the Sestri Ponente (Genoa) shipyard. The ship was moored in the port of Palermo since July.
RESILIENT LADY, as well as her sisterships SCARLET LADY, VALIANT LADY and BRILLIANT LADY, which was floated out just two weeks ago, each are about 110,000 gross tonnes, are 278 metres long and 38 wide.
South Korea’s first dual-fuel, smart electric passenger vessel ULSAN TAEHWA christened

South Korea’s first dual-fuel, smart electric passenger vessel, ULSAN TAEHWA, was christened in Ulsan on 29 November. The vessel has been built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in co-operation with the city government of Ulsan and the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency.
Construction of the 300-passenger capacity ULSAN TAEHWA started in October 2021, with the electric propulsion system solution for the 89.1m x 12.8m vessel being developed by Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
