Interislander’s two new 53,500 gt diesel-electric/battery hybrid vessels will enter service in 2025 and 2026, after delivery from South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and will replace the operator’s existing three ageing ferries.  The South Korean newbuildings will be able to each carry 1,900 passengers and 3,600 lane metres of freight, including up to 40, 18m rail waggons on six tracks on the main vehicle deck.
