Meyer Turku Group's financial result for 2022
Meyer Turku Group's financial result for 2022 has been published. The Group’s turnover was EUR 1.30bn (+20%). The operative result grew from EUR 10.8m (2021) to EUR 20.3m in 2022. The loss for the financial year was EUR 15.6m, which is slightly smaller than the previous year.

Cunard celebrates the float out of QUEEN ANNE

Cunard celebrated a momentous construction milestone with the float out of QUEEN ANNE at the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy. The 249th ship to sail under the Cunard flag, QUEEN ANNE officially touched water for the first time exactly 365 days before she will set sail on her maiden voyage to Lisbon on 3 May 2024.

Carl-Johan Hagman proposed to Gotlandsbolaget's board
At Gotlandsbolaget's general meeting on 1 June, Carl-Johan Hagman is proposed as a new board member in the company.
Carl-Johan Hagman has a long background in international shipping, with leading positions such as responsible for shipping operations at Stena, CEO of Höegh Autoliners, CEO of Walleniusrederierna and today head of NYK Group in Europe and Africa.
SAOS Ferries to start new service between Montoudi and the Sporades Islands at the end of May

Greek operator SAOS Ferries is to start a new daily ferry service between the small port of Montoudi to the Sporades Islands of Skiathos, Skopelos (Agnonista port) and Alonissos, from the end of May. The ferry operator will use the small ro-pax SAONISOS to maintain the route, which is currently being reactivated after a number of years in layup.
There is a possibility that the service could even start before the Greek election on 21 May, as many of the mayors of the Sporades islands are lobbying the ferry operator for this to happen.

Baja Ferries latest fleet addition, CALIFORNIA STAR, completes conversion into a ro-pax

Mexican Pacific Coast ferry operator Baja Ferries latest fleet addition, the CALIFORNIA STAR, has completed her conversion from a ro-ro into a ro-pax ferry in Croatia and has sailed for her new home in Mexico. The addition of CALIFORNIA STAR to Baja Ferries’ services across the Sea of Cortes will see the Mexican operator nearly double its freight carrying capacity on its two routes.

Stena Line sees Sweden-Denmark growth ahead of the high season in July

The ferry routes Frederikshavn-Gothenburg and Grenaa-Halmstad are popular routes for the many Danes who are going on holiday in Sweden this summer. Stena Line reports an increase of 29 percent in Danish bookings on the routes in the high season compared to last year.

VISTA delivered to Oceania Cruises

VISTA, the first of two new generation cruise ships that starts the “Allura class” for Oceania Cruises, a brand of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., was delivered at the Sestri Ponente (Genoa) shipyard. VISTA is 241m long, approximately 67,000 gt and is able to accommodate 1,200 passengers on board, assisted by 800 crew members.
SunStone takes delivery of the sixth Infinity vessel, the OCEAN ALBATROS

The CMHI Haimen yard, China, delivered SunStone's sixth expedition cruise vessel in the Infinity class, the OCEAN ALBATROS. The vessel will operate in both Antarctica and the Arctic and on cruises between these core expedition areas on year-round charter for Albatros Expeditions.
OCEAN ALBATROS has a length of 104.4 m and a beam of 18.4 m, and accommodation for 199 passengers. It holds a total of 95 comfortable staterooms and suites, all with unobstructed sea views, and most with their own balcony. The vessel is small enough to give an exclusive atmosphere yet large enough to yield all expected services and facilities.
FSG ro-ro newbuilding TENNOR OCEAN sold to Abu Dhabi’s Safeen Group

The first newbuilding from German shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) since its was taken over by Lars Windhorst in 2019, the 4,076 lm TENNOR OCEAN, has been acquired by Abu Dhabi-based marine services and logistics specialist Safeen Group.
The vessel, Hull No. 782, has been renamed ABU SAMRAH and sailed from Flensburg to Rotterdam on 29 April.
CIUDAD DE GRANADA back from Besiktas shipyard

CIUDAD DE GRANADA has returned after four months at the Besiktas shipyard (Turkey), where it underwent a comprehensive renovation. It is now sporting the new corporate image of Grimaldi Trasmed and scrubbers and a ballast water treatment plant has been installed.
Viking Line Q1 2023 results and board changes announced

Viking Line’s consolidated sales in Q1 increased 59.7% to EUR 93.9 million (EUR 58.8 million). Operating income totalled EUR -0.9 million (EUR -18.1 million). During the period, ROSELLA was sold, which had a positive income effect of EUR 8.6 million.
Passenger-related revenue increased 70.1% to EUR 80.4 million (EUR 47.2 million), while cargo sales were EUR 12.7 million (EUR 10.9 million) and other operating revenue was EUR 0.8 million (EUR 0.6 million). The sales contribution was EUR 71.3 million (EUR 45.3 million).
Fincantieri delivered VIKING SATURN to Viking

VIKING SATURN, the newest ocean cruise ship which Fincantieri is building for the shipowner Viking, has been delivered at the shipyard in Ancona. The unit will be placed in the small cruise ship segment. As its sister ships, she is about 47,800 gt, 465 cabins with accommodation for 930 passengers.
P&O Ferries 2021 financial results released

P&O Ferries released their financial results covering 2021. The net loss for the year, after taxation, amounted to GBP 375.6 million (2020: loss GBP 105.3 million). Revenue ended at GBP 834.8 million (GBP 865.7 million), while EBITDA ended at GBP -28.9 million (GBP -25.6 million).
Freight units: 1.827 million (1.952 million)
Tourist vehicles carried: 282,000 (401,000)
Total passengers carried: 1.986 million (2.727 million)
