Hansa Destinations doubles its capacity and frequency between Nynäshamn and Rostock
Ro-roSince Hansa Destinations started sailing in the autumn, a continuously increasing demand from customers seeking to transport goods by sea between Sweden and Germany has been seen. Rederi AB Gotland have therefore chartered the ELIANA MARINO to allow more departures in both directions, increased flexibility for customers and doubled cargo capacity.
Moby's ELIANA MARINO is currently on charter to DFDS and the ambition is that the vessel will join alongside DROTTEN by the end of April.
The new vessel, built in 2000 by the German JJ Sietas, has a capacity for 2,500 lanemetres and will double from three to six departures a week in both directions, from the ports of Nynäshamn and Rostock.
“We understand that having more departures increases flexibility which is important to customers. During the autumn, we have seen a gradual increase in demand, and it feels great at this point to be able to increase capacity further in both directions.
With this investment, we will enable the transfer of larger volumes of goods from land transport to sea transport while simplifying processes for our customers,” says Håkan Johansson, CEO of Rederi AB Gotland.
During a few summer weeks, i.e., weeks 26 to 32, DROTTEN – which currently operates Hansa Destinations – will contribute with increased capacity to the Gotland traffic. This means that, during these weeks, there will be five departures between Rostock and Nynäshamn instead of six.
