The Danish Ministry of Transport, Building, and Housing has requested Molslinjen/Bornholmslinjen to pay DKK 1.5 million in penalties after the ferry operator failed to meet required service levels with regard to vessel punctuality and cancellations on the high-speed Ystad-Rønne, Bornholm service.

Åland-based Rederi AB Eckerö has acquired the 1,950-lanemetre EUROPEAN ENDEAVOUR from P&O Ferries. The 2000-built ro-pax ferry is currently in drydock at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead and is expected to be handed over to her new owners later this month.

As if the fiasco surrounding the UK Government’s no-deal Brexit ferries contracts couldn’t get any worse, comes news today that the Department for Transport (DfT) has cancelled its contracts with Brittany Ferries and DFDS to provide increased services for ‘essential’ freight cargoes on its routes between the UK and Europe. This latest move is expected to cost UK taxpayers GBP 50 million.

Tour Revenues increased 9% to USD 89.7 million. Adjusted EBITDA decreased USD 0.1 million to USD 22.0 million

Royal Caribbean reports strongest ever 1Q results

Revenues ended at USD 2.4 billion, compared to USD 2 billion for the same quarter last year. US GAAP Net Income for the first quarter of 2019 was USD 249.7 million or USD 1.19 per share and Adjusted Net Income was USD 275.8 million or USD 1.31 per share, beating the January guidance by USD 0.21 per share. Last year, US GAAP Net Income was USD 218.7 million or USD 1.02 per share and Adjusted Net Income was USD 232.8 million or USD 1.09 per share. 

Scandlines reports solid performance and stable operations for 2018

The group's two ferry routes completed more than 43,000 departures and transported 7.4 million passengers, underlining Scandlines' position as an invaluable part of European infrastructure. Group revenue declined 2% to EUR 477 million in 2018 (EUR 487 million in 2017) following a slight decline in traffic and BorderShop visits driven by the unseasonably warm weather in the period from May to September. 

Virtu Ferries maintains strong profitability in 2018

While passenger-related revenues slightly decreased to EUR 27.1 million, a shortfall of just 0.7%, charter-related revenues increased by 6% to EUR 5.3 million. The group's total revenues reached EUR 33.1 million. Net profit increased 13.5% to EUR 10.9 million.

Moby Group financial results for 2018

Revenues for the period amounted to EUR 584.3 million compared to EUR 586.2 million in 2017. EBITDA stood at EUR 44 million compared to EUR 131.8 million in 2017. The net result for the year 2018 was a loss equal to EUR 62.7 million.

Ferry Operations

Revenue increased from SEK 12,737 million in 2017 to SEK 13,849 million in 2018.

Operating result ended at SEK 1,391 million, compared to SEK 1,499 million in 2017

Roll-on/Roll-off vessels

Revenue from the company’s ro-ro activities reached SEK 518 million for the period (SEK 400 million), with operating result ending at SEK 439 million in, compared to SEK 379 million in 2017.
