Last year, Stena Line and SkiStar launched a collaboration to strengthen both parties and make it easier for Danes to travel to the Swedish mountains. The partnership has already proven successful by providing ski tourists with smoother access to some of Sweden’s most popular ski areas. The collaboration is continuously evolving to make the journey even more appealing to all of Denmark’s ski enthusiasts.

As early as last summer, Danes began booking their ski trips via Stena Line, and the ferry operator can now confirm that interest is at a record high. During the Danish winter holidays (week 7), the number of Danish ski travellers using Stena Line’s bus service rose by 34 percent compared to the same period last year.

“We are continuously working to improve our services and make it even more attractive to travel to the Swedish mountains. Our ambition is to be an integral part of the entire ski experience and offer a smooth and comfortable journey for our guests. We see a clear trend that more Danes are choosing this type of travel, and we look forward to continuing this development,” says Ulf Staaff, Travel Commercial Manager for the Denmark region at Stena Line.

SkiStar is also seeing a substantial increase in Danish bookings. During week 7, more Danish skiers hit the slopes than during the same period in 2024, and booking figures for March and April are four percent higher than the previous year.

“We see a clear trend that Danes are choosing the Swedish mountains, and we are delighted to collaborate with Stena Line to make the journey as easy as possible. Our booking figures show a clear upturn compared to last year, confirming the strong interest in an active holiday in the snow – even late in the season,” says Mathias Lindström, Commercial Director at SkiStar.
