Lloyd Werft re-orientation
YardLloyd Werft Bremerhaven has announced it will focus on the new- and rebuilding of yachts, prototype vessels and the conversion of cruise ships in the future. The re-orientation will be achieved by means of a thorough structural change of the firm which will also include a reduction in workforce (currently 450).
Genting as Lloyd Werft's main shareholder supports the re-orientation which aims at leading the yard into a secure future.
According to unconfirmed sources, a mega-yacht currently under construction at Lloyd Werft will be delivered to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich in 2017. The yard had suffered a major drawback this summer when Genting announced it will have its future fleet of cruise ships for it subsidiaries Star Cruises and Crystal Cruises built at MV Werften rather than at Bremerhaven. The last major conversion contract for Lloyd Werft was the lengthening of DFDS Seaways' PRIMULA SEAWAYS in July and August this year.
The announcement of the re-orientation came along with the notification that Dirk Peterjohann will leave the board of directors at the end of the year at his own request.
