Molslinjen 2024 carryings
Bornholmslinjen saw more than two million travellers in 2024 for the first time in the island's history. Langelandslinjen carried 33,795 trucks (+12%) and 531,511 passengers (-1%). Fanølinjen carried 1,914,308 passengers (+2.4%), 9,240 trucks (+5%) and 460,450 cars (+12%).
Bornholmslinjen
To be precise, 2,005,564 passengers made the round trip on one of the three routes to Bornholm in 2024.
Molslinjen's CEO, Kristian Durhuus, set the goal on the quay in Rønne in April 2023, when he helped receive the large fast ferry, EXPRESS 5, in Rønne.
"It is very satisfying that the following year we already break the threshold of two million travelers in a year - and even in 2024, when a cold and wet July sent a lot of Danes on vacation south."
And the happy CEO believes in more. Throughout 2025, EXPRESS 5 will sail side by side with EXPRESS 1, and the staging areas in Rønne have been rebuilt and geared up for a new year with new high seasons.
"We also know that prices will drop slightly in 2025, when we are also rebuilding EXPRESS 1, so that it will resemble EXPRESS 5 a little more - including a larger shop in the style of the one that has been very well received on EXPRESS 5", says Kristian Durhuus.
Langelandslinjen
2024 was a record year for Langelandslinjen. Never before have there been more trucks on the ferries between Langeland and Lolland than there were last year. Many of the trucks carried materials for the construction of the Fehmarnbelt connection, and therefore this year's cargo transfers set a record.
33,795 trucks sailed on the ferries in 2024, which is an increase of over 12% compared to 2023, when the number was 28,716.
The number of passengers has gone from 536,803 in 2023 to 531,511 in 2024, a small decrease of 1%. Langelandslinjen sees the same picture for the number of passenger cars, which has gone from 218,505 in 2023 to 216,009 in 2024.
"In 2024, Langelandslinjen has been the logical shortcut for many of the materials used for the construction of the Fehmarnbelt link - and when the link is completed, it will strengthen the Langelandslinjen as the sensible shortcut for many of the German transports who want to save the expensive road kilometers to Denmark", explains Molslinjen's CEO Kristian Durhuus.
Fanølinjen
2024 was the year that brought ferry operations back to a stable level. In both 2022 and 2023, the number of cars transferred by Fanølinjen fell, but that pattern now appears to have been broken. In 2024, the number of cars transferred was 460,450, while in 2023 the figure was 410,656, an increase of just over 12%.
And this is largely the result of good cooperation with Fanø municipality throughout 2024.
"We are very satisfied that traffic is now back on track, and this is due, among other things, to the very good cooperation we have had with Fanø municipality in 2024, where together we have focused on getting ferry operations back to the level we had before 2022", explains Molslinjen's CEO Kristian Durhuus.
But it is not only the number of passenger cars that is increasing in 2024. The statement also shows that there were more passengers on the route between Esbjerg and Fanø. In 2024, the ferries transported 1,914,308 passengers, while in 2023 there were 1,868,784 passengers. That is an increase of 2.4%. The figures for trucks have also increased. This represents an increase of 5% with 9,240 trucks in 2024, while the number in 2023 was 8,796.
Fanølinjen's guests can look forward to unchanged prices in 2025, except for freight, which has become slightly cheaper.
