Royal Caribbean International takes delivery of UTOPIA OF THE SEAS and celebrate keel-laying of CELEBRITY XCEL
CruiseRoyal Caribbean International’s latest Oasis Class cruise ship, UTOPIA OF THE SEAS, has been delivered from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard. The keel-laying ceremony for CELEBRITY XCEL has also been held, the fifth ship in Celebrity Cruises’ Edge series.
In the weeks leading up to the debut of the summer on July 19, UTOPIA will make its way to the U.S. as the Royal Caribbean teams make finishing touches to get the ship ready. The latest in the lineup of the Oasis Class, this is the first of its kind to debut with 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday getaways. The combination of more than 40 ways to dine, drink and celebrate; more pools than the days to count, ways to thrill and chill; and more of all the above at Perfect Day at CocoCay – Royal Caribbean’s private island in The Bahamas.
The first ship in the Oasis Class was the OASIS OF THE SEAS, delivered in 2009, with a seventh unit ordered in February this year. For many years, these were the largest cruise ships in the world, only recently beaten slightly by the Icon Class ships.
CELEBRITY XCEL had its keel laid at the same Chantiers de l’Atlantique yard and will be delivered at the end of 2025. The Edge Class cruise ships currently stretch to five ships, where the first unit was delivered in 2018, CELEBRITY EDGE.
