Second Icon Class cruise ship for Royal Caribbean International named STAR OF THE SEAS
CruiseConstruction on the largest cruise ships in world to date is progressing at Meyer Turku. ICON OF THE SEAS leads the series with expected delivery in January 2024, STAR OF THE SEAS follows in December 2025, with a third yet-unnamed sister a year later.
One of the interesting novelties and eight neighbourhoods on the ships is the AquaDome neighbourhood: a tranquil oasis by day, where guests can enjoy ocean views. By night, it becomes a vibrant place great for a night out with the AquaTheatre that takes entertainment to next level.
The ships will be able to run on LNG and utilize fuel cell technology. They will also feature technologies such as shore power connections and waste heat recovery systems.
At 365 metres in length, 50 metres width and with a gross tonnage of approximately 250,000, these ships will become the largest cruise ship ever built.
