The Trelleborg-Sassnitz route with FRS Baltic starts on 1 April
High-speedPort of Trelleborg is welcoming FRS Baltic as a new customer in the port, and on 1 April the Trelleborg-Sassnitz route will be launched with the high-speed catamaran SKÅNE JET.
The high-speed catamaran SKÅNE JET can carry more than 600 passengers and 200 vehicles in just 2.5 hours and is thus the fastest connection by sea from Sweden to Germany. FRS Baltic will offer day trips to Bordershop during April-October 2023, but also night departures during the summer months.
Positive trend for passenger traffic
The number of cars and passengers has had a positive development in Port of Trelleborg in 2022. 1.6 million passengers and just over 372,000 cars passed through the port and the upward trend looks set to continue in 2023 as well, when the port’s new customer FRS Baltic starts up the route to Sassnitz again.
The King’s Route will be resumed
The King’s Route between Trelleborg and Sassnitz was inaugurated on 6 July 1909 by King Gustaf V and the German Emperor Wilhelm II. The route Trelleborg-Sassnitz was shut down in 2020 due to the corona pandemic.
– We are proud that we once again can offer as many as five routes to Europe, which no other Swedish port can. With SKÅNE JET we now have 16 vessels in traffic in the port, that is impressive, says Jörgen Nilsson, CEO of Port of Trelleborg.
