Unity Line and Port of Trelleborg extend agreement
Unity Line and Port of Trelleborg have signed a new agreement for five years. Since February 2007, the Polish shipping company Unity Line has operated the route between Trelleborg and Swinoujscie in Poland and the traffic has had a positive steady increase since its inception.
Port of Trelleborg is Scandinavia’s largest ro-ro port for rolling traffic and is the market leader in terms of freight volumes on the Poland traffic. During the years that Unity Line has served Trelleborg, the volumes have increased by more than 10 percent per year.
At present, Unity Line has four vessels operating on the Trelleborg—Swinoujscie route.
The new vessel EPSILON will be operational from January 2024 and will replace GALILEUSZ. In terms of capacity, it is almost a doubling of capacity as EPSILON has a capacity of 3,000 lane meters and will be Unity Line’s largest vessel between Trelleborg and Swinoujscie.
Euroafrica is the owner of EPSILON and GALILEUSZ but the vessels are operated by Unity Line.
“Port of Trelleborg has invested to be able to receive larger, more efficient and more modern vessels. We at Unity Line are very positive about this development and our ambition is, in addition to EPSILON, to locate our two other new vessels that are currently being built in Poland and will be completed in 2025 and 2026 respectively, at the Trelleborg—Swinoujscie route”, says Jaroslaw Kotarski, CEO of Unity Line.
“We at Port of Trelleborg are very pleased that Unity Line has chosen to invest and develop its operations in Trelleborg by putting their new vessels into service between Trelleborg and Swinoujscie, which strengthens our position as Scandinavia’s largest ro-ro port”, says Jörgen Nilsson, CEO of Port of Trelleborg.
The agreement is valid from 1/1 – 2024 to 31/12 – 2028.
