Brittany Ferries confirms its 2022-2023 fleet plan and announces the opening of bookings to Ireland and the United Kingdom

The opening of reservations for Ireland, earlier than in previous years, allows passengers to anticipate their trip and benefit from the best choices of crossings, times, cabins, especially if they wish to cross with their pet. This announcement follows the opening of reservations on the Company's long routes, Ireland/Spain and United Kingdom/Spain, a week ago. Brittany Ferries also confirms its commitment to renewing its fleet and French sailors.

Among the new announcements, the arrival of the new ship, the SANTONA. It is scheduled to join the fleet in March 2023. Sister ship of the SALAMANCA, which entered service in March 2022, the SANTONA, the Company's second ship powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas), will operate on the Santander/Portsmouth line and will connect Cherbourg once a week.

The Company also announces the departure of the CONNEMARA in October 2022 replaced by the SALAMANCA, for the service from Roscoff to Rosslare in Ireland and Rosslare to Bilbao in Spain. The SALAMANCA will be the first LNG ship to serve Ireland. The Company illustrates, once again, by the replacement of CONNEMARA by SALAMANCA, its attachment to the flag and to the French sailors.

The Cherbourg-Poole line will resume with BARFLEUR on April 3, 2023 after a winter shutdown.

The largest hybrid ship ever built

Finally, Brittany will return to the St Malo/Portsmouth route for its penultimate season. It will be replaced in 2024 by one of the two hybrid LNG-electric vessels that will join the fleet. This new unit - the SAINT-MALO - will be the largest hybrid vessel ever built, with twice the battery capacity of conventional hybrid navigation systems.

SAINT-MALO will allow the company to take a new step in its energy transition. It will be powered by batteries, LNG or a combination of both. The planned investments in port infrastructure will allow the ship to recharge at the quay, thus allowing an even more virtuous mode of operation.
