More Danes will sail with Stena Line on Easter holiday

Danes are once again looking abroad when planning their holiday, and Sweden in particular seems to be a popular destination this year. The interest in trips to Sweden has also not gone unnoticed by the ferry company Stena Line, which experiences that the number of Danish bookings on the Grenå-Halmstad route has increased fivefold compared to Easter and the high season last year.

At Stena Line, this year's high season kicks off at Easter, where several Danes have chosen to book a ticket for the ferry route Grenå-Halmstad to spend a holiday in Sweden. Stena Line has positive expectations for the time to come, and the ferry company expects an Easter and high season, where the number of bookings will approach the level from before the pandemic.

- It is very positive that the Danes have opened their eyes to the ferry route Grenå-Halmstad, and that they choose to book their holiday with Stena Line. Our booking numbers for Easter have increased fivefold compared to last year, and all indications are that interest will continue over the summer. With the ferry from Grenå to Halmstad, it is easy to take from Jutland on holiday or extended weekend in the beautiful surroundings on the Swedish west coast, says Julia Kronberg, Regional Travel Manager at Stena Line.

The spring holidays and extended weekends offer many opportunities for trips and excursions, and here it is easy for both families, couples and friends to travel with Stena Line. With the car packed, you can drive on board STENA NAUTICA in Grenå and arrive in Halmstad in just 4 hours and 35 minutes. The holiday atmosphere starts already on board the ferry, where passengers can enjoy the sea view, look in the ferry shop, take a taste of the Swedish "fika" with coffee and cake or enjoy a good meal at the restaurant. There is also a cinema on the ferry, and for the little ones, the ferry crossing is transformed into a playful adventure in Happy World.

Arriving in the western Swedish coastal town of Halmstad, there are many experiences for both young and old. The city's cozy little streets, charming coastlines and the direct ferry connection to Denmark make Halmstad an obvious holiday town. If you are by car, there is also plenty of opportunity to explore the western Swedish nature outside Halmstad, or you can take a trip to Sweden's second largest city Gothenburg, which is less than two hours drive from Halmstad. Here you can experience the city's pulse, the historic canals and not least Liseberg, the Nordic region's largest amusement park. You can also take the ferry directly to Gothenburg via Stena Line's route Frederikshavn-Gothenburg.

Experiences and news in Halmstad and Gothenburg in 2022 include:

With a 45-kilometer coastline, Halmstad has both family-friendly beaches with shallow water and soft sand, small bathing coves in idyllic surroundings and rocky beaches where you can take a dip in good weather.

If you want to try your hand at golf, Halmstad is the right place - Halmstad is Sweden's golf capital. Halmstad has as many as 153 holes spread over 8 golf courses in scenic surroundings. Do not miss the "Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed" which is held by Halmstad Golf Club from 9-12. June. Here, the most talented male and female golfers in the DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour compete in one and the same tournament for both cash prize and trophy.

• The 20th-21st. April, the Danish and Swedish national ice hockey teams meet in Halmstad Arena for two test matches before the World Cup 2022. Here, ice hockey enthusiasts can buy a ticket to the showdown on the ice - maybe the Danish men's national team can repeat the success from 2021, when they defeated the Swedes

• Slottsmöllan is Halmstad's activity center, and here you can try your hand at everything from mini golf and go-karting to climbing and coffee tasting. The center also rents out canoes so you can explore the area by sea.

You can also make your way past the historic Halmstad Castle by Nissan, just under two kilometers from the sea. The castle was built by King Christian IV in the 17th century, where Halland and Halmstad belonged to Denmark, as he felt he needed a larger and more magnificent residence during his visits.

• By car it is easy to take a trip to Gothenburg, where you can shop, go on a canal tour of the city's historical canals or experience the city's culinary delicacies - and especially the city is known for its whimsical and charming events. For example, the GBG Beer Week beer festival kicks off from 1 April and ends with a beer and whiskey fair called "En Öl- och Whiskymässa" on 8-9. April. The same weekend, the boat show Eriksberg Boat Show is also held in the open air with 200 boats from 70 manufacturers.
