Red Funnel awarded RoSPA Order of Distinction Award
Red Funnel, the original Isle of Wight ferry operator, has been awarded an Order of Distinction (21 consecutive Golds) Award for health and safety performance by RoSPA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
Jon Stage, Head of Safety and Compliance at Red Funnel, attended an event at the ExCeL London to receive the award, which recognises the ferry operator’s commitment to the safety of its passengers and crew.
Stage said: “Thanks to the collective focus on safety across our whole team, we continue to ensure that it remains a key part of our business, driving everything we do. I am honoured to receive this award of behalf of the team and continue to be extremely proud of their relentless commitment to safety across our service.”

As a lifeline service, we train our staff to operate with a safety-first culture and receiving this award 21 years in a row is testament to our dedication to ensuring a safe and reliable ferry experience for both our passengers and crew.”
The RoSPA Awards is one of the most prestigious and recognised schemes in the world, with almost 2,000 entries every year. The awards recognise organisations that applicants have excellent health and safety management systems in place and aim to reinforce the message that excellent health and safety is good business. Since 1956, it has recognised and rewarded companies and people around the world for their safety performance.
