EXPRESS 5 incident due to human error
High-speedIt was a human error that caused EXPRESS 5 to hit the so-called Fliskaj on the ferry's last trip on the way out of Rønne harbour on Monday evening, 25 November. This is shown by an internal investigation of the incident.
EXPRESS 5 was seriously damaged when it hit the so-called Fliskaj on the departure in Rønne Havn in the evening of 25 November. The ferry was on its way out on the last double trip of the day, but after hard contact with the pier, the ferry had to turn around and drop off its passengers in Rønne again.
The internal investigation of the incident at Bornholmslinjen has shown that there were no technical reasons for the accident, which also happened under normal weather conditions. Therefore, the incident is to be categorized as a human manoeuvre error.
This is also the main content of the report on the incident that Molslinjen's safety officer has submitted to the Danish Maritime Authority.
EXPRESS 5 is currently at the FAYARD shipyard in Munkebo, where work is being done to get the fast ferry back to Rønne as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the route's normal high-capacity ferry, EXPRESS 1, has taken over responsibility as the main ferry on the route.
