FINNCANOPUS’ successful inaugural month
FerryFinnlines has welcomed two newly built ships in the Superstar class to its fleet, FINNSIRIUS in September 2023 and FINNCANOPUS on 16 February this year. The Superstar vessels have replaced two smaller ones, and they offer upgraded services on the route between Finland and Sweden via Åland. One month after the launch of newcomer FINNCANOPUS, Finnlines reports a nearly fourfold increase in passenger numbers.
Over the past few years, Finnlines has invested EUR 500 million in a Green Technology Investment Programme, entering the hybrid era. The programme was completed when the newly built Superstar-class freight-passenger vessels debuted, FINNSIRIUS in September 2023 and its sister ship FINNCANOPUS in mid-February this year. Within a month of introducing FINNCANOPUS on the Naantali–Långnäs–Kapellskär route, Finnlines reports a nearly fourfold increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year.
“The new Superstar vessels have been long awaited and they are an integral part of our strategy to offer upgraded services for both cargo customers and private passengers on the Finland–Sweden route”, says Antonio Raimo, Line Manager at Finnlines.
In addition to panoramic windows with stunning views of the archipelago, passengers can enjoy several dining options on the two sister ships, as well as a stylish spa, gym, duty-free shop and play and game areas for children.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with our customers’ warm welcome to FINNCANOPUS and FINNSIRIUS and we are looking forward to the summer season”, says Marco Palmu, Head of Finnlines Passenger Services.
