New lock in Terneuzen opened
The Nieuwe Sluis in Terneuzen was festively opened by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and His Majesty King Filip. With the new lock in operation, waiting times will be cut significantly, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Tidal seagoing vessels can now proceed towards Ghent without waiting for high tide, improving efficiency through better use of pilots and tugboats.
