North Sea Handling to supply cargo / passenger access equipment for Stena RoRo’s two new vessels
Ro-roNorth Sea Handling AS is through its subsidiary NSH Ships Equipment AS were awarded the contract to equip Stena RoRo’s two new NewMax vessels being built for Stena Line by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai) co., ltd. with cargo access equipment tailor made for RoRo operations.
The NSH scope of supply will include a wide range of equipment serving the handling of ro-ro, bunkering and crew.

“We have been working closely with Stena for the past few years where we have delivered both Port equipment and ro-ro equipment to existing vessels but where this is the first time we will cooperate for newbuildings. To do this together with Weihai Shipyard is something we are very proud of and looking forward to.”

The vessels have been specially designed for Stena Line's route between Belfast and Heysham on the Irish Sea and therefore have enhanced maneuverability. Stena RoRo is responsible for the contract and construction of the NewMax vessels and delivery is scheduled for 2025.
“These vessels are a further development of our previous cargo ship concepts where focus on sustainability and future-proofing with multi-fuel combustion engines are prioritized,” says Per Westling, managing director of Stena RoRo.
Both cargo vessels are designed with limited length and shallow draught to suit the special conditions in the narrow port of Heysham.
