Tallink invests MEUR 16 into the modernization of SILJA EUROPA
FerryEstonian ferry operator Tallink announced today that the company will be spending a total of MEUR 16 on a thorough refurbishment and modernization of their largest cruise ferry SILJA EUROPA. The 1993-built ship will undergo an extensive upgrade of cabins, restaurants and bars as well as the conference center.
SILJA EUROPA is due to return to service between Helsinki and Tallinn on 12 December 2016, replacing the BALTIC QUEEN which returns to the Tallinn-Stockholm route.
In total 1016 cabins, from the standard categories up to the suites, will be refurbished. All surfaces and furniture will be renewed. The renewal of the cabins has been designed and planned by the Finnish architecture company Aprocos. All cabin aisles, lobbies the reception desk and public toilets are included in this job.
SILJA EUROPA will get new restaurants, cafeterias and bars. The buffet restaurant as well as the Grill House restaurant (formerly known as the Maxim) will be completely rebuilt. In addition the ship will also receive its own version of the Coffee & Co. cafeteria, a concept previously realized on the SILJA SERANADE. A bar and the ship's pub will also undergo renewal.
In spring this year the ship's shops, nightclub and disco underwent a first make-over, and the Italian restaurant Tavolàta as well as the fast food restaurant Fast Lane were opened, before the ship returned to service with day cruises between Helsinki and Tallinn after SILJA EUROPA returned from use as an accommodation vessel in Australia.
