Baleària reconnects Barcelona with Menorca and Mallorca with high-speed vessel during the summer
Baleària will reinforce the route between Barcelona – Ciutadella – Alcúdia with a daily high-speed service that will be carried out by the ship CECILIA PAYNE from 3 June to mid-October. The shipping company will operate one of the most demanded connections during the summer period with a fast ferry that will connect the Catalan capital with the Menorcan port in 3.5 hours, and two more hours to the Mallorcan port.
CECILIA PAYNE has a capacity for 800 people and 200 vehicles and is one of the fastest in the shipping company's fleet, as it can reach a maximum speed of 38 knots. The ship will depart daily from Barcelona at 4:30 p.m., arriving in Menorca and Mallorca at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., respectively.
These rotations of CECILIA PAYNE are added to the daily passenger and freight transport service carried out by the 800-passenger capacity HYPATIA DE ALEJANDRIA, introduced in 2019.
Transformation into a smart ship and comprehensive renovation of accommodations
Baleària has also opted to invest in the modernization of the ship. From now on, the ship offers Internet browsing, a free WhatsApp service and on-demand digital entertainment through the Smart B platform throughout the voyage.
A comprehensive renovation of the interiors and accommodations has also been carried out, installing nearly 200 new seats, including reclining superior category seats in the VIP area. In addition, the upholstery of all the accommodations has been updated, as well as the carpets, and a children's area has been installed in the aft part with interactive digital games.
In addition, Baleària has sensorized the ship in order to feed data on navigation, consumption and emission in real time to the Fleet Control Tower, which allows the company to make more agile and effective decisions.
