ZANZIBAR 3
Zan Fast Ferries of Zanzibar (Tanzania) ordered a third CoCo Yachts designed high speed passenger craft
The first two Coastal Cruisers 448, named ZANZIBAR 1 and ZANZIBAR 2, were delivered in 2019 and were taken into service in early 2020, providing transport between Dar-Es Salaam and Zanzibar (Tanzania). Zan Fast Ferries decided to expand the ferry service to more routes and will enclose the island of Pemba in their service.
The third aluminium high speed passenger ferry is designed in accordance with RINA and IMO – High Speed Code – 2000, with a maximum significant wave height of 4 meters. Service speed will be 32.5 knots @ 90% MCR.
The interior design is fresh and light, with the colors of Tanzania. Special attention has been given to passenger comfort, ensuring (very) low noise and vibration levels, fabulous outside views due to big side and front windows and a high-capacity air conditioning system in the inside areas. On maindeck 318 economy-passengers can be seated in front part, as on the aft part of the vessel a spacious luggage room is situated. On outside upperdeck 231 economy-passengers can be seated, and on inside upperdeck there is place for 50 Gold class passengers.
The vessel has a length oa of 49.72 meters, a beam of 11.20 meters and a maximum draft of 1.40 meters. The vessel will use 2x MTU 16V4000M63L engines connected to MJP750 DRB waterjets through ZF 9050 reversible gearboxes.
Cummins generator sets will provide auxiliary power.
The vessel will be equipped with automatic ride control system from Humphree, which has proven effectiveness on ZANZIBAR 1 & 2. The system not only keeps the trim at the optimum point to reduce fuel consumption, it also reduces motions in more severe wave conditions.
Zan Fast Ferries is a Tanzanian company, based in Zanzibar, and in the past two years became famous in the ferry market in Tanzania. The new specially for Zan Fast Ferries designed Coastal Cruiser 599 will start the service between Dar Es Salaam- Zanzibar-Pemba in Q2 2023.
