BIRKA GOTLAND celebrates one year in service
CruiseBIRKA GOTLAND celebrates one year in service. During the first year, the ship has visited seven Baltic Sea ports, had over 532,000 passengers and worked to refine an attractive cruise product for the Swedish market. – We have exciting news in the pipeline for our second year, says Kenneth Gustavsson, CEO of Gotland Alandia Cruises.
BIRKA GOTLAND is Sweden's new pleasure cruiser that offers experiences and entertainment on the Baltic Sea every day. Before the start of service in March 2024, the ship was upgraded for SEK 70 million with, among other things, a redesigned spa and an update of the Terrace on deck 10. The onboard concepts have since been adjusted and refined to attract new cruise travellers.
–Our full focus is to continue creating Sweden's premier cruise experience. It's about delivering good food, entertainment, shopping and relaxation tailored to a Swedish audience every day. Ahead of May-June, we already have 30 percent more trips booked than the same time last year, so the start of the summer high season looks very promising, says Kenneth Gustavsson.
During the first year BIRKA GOTLAND has had just over 532,000 passengers. Most of the cruises have been between Stockholm, Åland and Visby, but also to the High Coast, Ystad, Bornholm and Riga. Also, during the summer half of 2025, BIRKA GOTLAND will cruise both shorter and longer distances around the Baltic Sea.
-Now we are looking forward to celebrating a great first year together with the ship's crew and all our passengers. After that, we will present several major news in the spring, which we are convinced will attract even more people to discover the Baltic Sea's only pure cruise ship, says Kenneth Gustavsson.
