StraitNZ enhances Cook Strait ferry fleet with STENA LIVIA
FerryStraitNZ Bluebridge has announced the acquisition of a new ship to improve its Cook Strait services. The company will acquire the STENA LIVIA from Stena Line, currently serving between Travemünde, Germany and Liepaja, Latvia. STENA LIVIA is a sister vessel to the CONNEMARA, which joined the Cook Strait fleet in 2023.
Built in 2008, the STENA LIVIA will be renamed and undergo drydock maintenance in Europe before arriving to join the Cook Strait fleet in July. It will replace the 1997-built STRAIT FERONIA later this year. The new ferry will boost vehicle capacity by 10 percent and offer a substantial increase in passenger space with additional upgrades, according to the company.
