Koncept Stockholm to design interior of Viking Line’s Xiamen newbuilding
FerryViking Line has given more details about the interior design of its new LNG-powered cruise ferry for the Stockholm-Åland-Turku route.
Due to be delivered by Xiamen Shipbuilding in 2020, the ship's interior will be designed by Koncept Stockholm, the interior architects that were also responsible for the interiors of the Stockholm hotel Haymarket by Scandic.
"The choice was between a number of highly respected architecture firms," said Jan Hanses, President and CEO of Viking Line. "Koncept Stockholm stood out with its attractive combination of Scandinavian simplicity and playfulness. It is also important to Viking Line that the architects contribute to an appealing travel experience that works for cruise passengers, families with children, conference guests and the substantial cargo traffic between the two countries. This is a challenge that we foresee Koncept Stockholm handling with a sense of flair and great skill. We have also taken into consideration our international guests, who perhaps have never before experienced archipelago scenery like ours, by taking a further step in prioritising views of the sea and archipelagos.
Viking Line's 218m, 63,000 gt newbuilding is a further evolution of the 2013-built VIKING GRACE, the interior design of which was in the hands of Vertti Kivi.
